"I really thought your seminar was well organized and informative. Bravo!! When I learned that the cost was $55 for both days I rescheduled my plans to take advantage of the course information."

Sign Language Interpretation

Key: COMPETENT interpreters
Outcome: Access and stress free communication

We facilitate communication between the Deaf and those who hear ("Hearing"). The core of our services is built on the competence and experience of our interpreters. Maximize the outcome of any event by choosing us. Can you hear? We'll be your eyes and your hands. Do you sign? We'll be your ears and your voice. When you speak, we LISTEN then sign the message. When you sign, we WATCH then speak the message. When it comes to what you want to say, we're all ears.

Be confident in knowing we see what you're saying. Whatever your interaction is, leave it in our hands… In Good Hands. Although we have provided interpreting services in many different situations, we anticipate working with you. Click here to request our services.

Consultation

Key: KNOWLEDGEABLE consultants
Outcome: Unprecedented results

As you interact with the Deaf community, you'll find yourself sharing in their fascinating language. This can be both exciting and challenging. One thing it doesn't have to be is overwhelming. We give you the information and resources necessary to maximize the interaction. Partnering with institutions and companies of all sizes, our goal is to provide you with money and time saving advice.

Do you need information on compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)? Have you hired someone who communicates using sign language? Are you creating a project and want to include sign language and/or the Deaf community? Take comfort in knowing that with our technical expertise, we can steer you in the right direction.

As your business advisor, first we'll ensure that our services precisely and comprehensively match your needs. Second, we'll help you implement successfully proven strategies. The rest needs no explanation as we work hand in hand. To take that first step, simply fill out a Service Request.

Interpreter Education

You've heard the saying…"Those who can, can. Those who can't, teach." We at In Good Hands Interpreting know this is not the case. Simply put, we are able to do both. We can do it (interpret) and we can teach you how.

The staff of In Good Hands Interpreting is nationally certified by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in interpretation and sign language. Whether a prospective, novice, or seasoned interpreter, our training will benefit you. In our Manual Music™ Clinic Series, we instruct on creative uses of American Sign Language. We teach how to sign concepts accurately combining rhythm, movement and emotion. Through seminars, classes and workshops, we supplement the curriculum of interpreter training programs. Some of our topics include:

  • What is ITT? INTERPRETATION, TRANSLITERATION and TRANSLATION
  • Turn-taking in ASL & English conversations
  • The advantages of process time in simultaneous interpretation
  • Improving recognition of fingerspelled words
  • A multicultural approach to interpreter education using the National Multicultural Interpreter Project (NMIP) curriculum
  • Simultaneous vs. consecutive interpretation
  • Interpreting similes, metaphors and others figurative uses of language
  • ASL to English: An introduction to voicing
  • Humble beginnings: interpreting and transliterating simple phrases and sentences

Is national certification your goal? Do you want to enhance your interpreting skills? Do you need continuing education units? Are you ready to learn theory as well as its application? If you are ready to work with us, fill out the Service Request form below.
